Connected to Cisco Linksys router but it doesn't have internet access?
March 10th, 2010 · 1 Comment
I just got a Cisco Linksys router model WRT54G2 from a friend and I plugged it into the jack in the wall and everything, blah blah. And I can get my iPhone, Wii, Laptop, etc. connected just fine but none of them get actual internet access. I must be doing something wrong...is there any easy solution?

Wireless networking: Must I use wireless adapter or can I use wireless router + cable to my computer?
March 7th, 2010 · 4 Comments
Right now I have a cable running from downstairs to the upstairs to my computer. However, I have to remove this. Can I get the main wireless router to communicate with one in my bedroom, and then put a cable from that one to my comp? Or do I just have to buy one of those wireless adapter cards and put that in my computer? I'm asking because all of my PCI slots are full, so I would rather just use another router + cable.
Which one is theoretically faster?
Appreciate the input. I have to use wireless because my apartment complex doesn't want me stapling CAT5 cable all through the house. Our router is downstairs and my room is upstairs.

how to configure cisco router's ip accounting to record input and output packets of hosts based on ips?
March 6th, 2010 · 1 Comment
cisco routers have a service called ip accounting.
i telnet to the router , select the FastEthernet0/0 interface
and then write "ip accounting"
then i save the router's configuration
when i use "show ip accounting" i only get local ip addresses as destination , not as source , which means that i see only who in my network makes download , not who makes upload.
can any one help?
NOTE : i dont need to have accounting by MAC Addresses , but i need the accounting table by IP addresses.
Thanks

How to configure two cisco routers on same laptop?
March 3rd, 2010 · 1 Comment
I have 2 Cisco 2600 routers and 1 2950 switch. I am basically learning router and switch configuration for my CCNA exam. Right now, I can connect one router to my computer with one lone USB to Serial adapter I have. If I want to configure both routers at the same time would I need 2 of those adapters. How can I then also configure the switch? Would I need a third?
