How to link cable-internet with adsl router?
I have an old unused ADSL 502T D-Link router at home.
I have cable internet connection on my pc connected via chord
I wanted to know whether i can use the router connecting that chord to the router and connect router using usb to pc(and will it affect the speed or will boost it?)
And plz give my step-by-step procedure how 2 setup,how 2 config everything..

You cannot use your adsl router with a cable modem as there is no way for the adsl router to bind or perform NAT(network address translation) between your WAN(internet) IP address and any of your LAN(Local) IP addresses.
There may be some very specific, custom open source firmware out there that will allow you to run linux commands to get this working but you would have a whole different question to be asking on here
ok now first off your going to want to use USB or Ethernet but its better to use ethernet because u don’t have to download the drivers for it and the way u hook up a router is an Ethernet from the modem to the router from the router to the back of your pc. And second off depending on how old that router is you might be getting as good of signal strength from that router so u might need to do an upgrade to a Linksys Wireless G-Router one of the best routers out there right now!
