We have one cable connection with router.My freind plays X-BOX 360 and I play on-line games on my computer. Does this really slow one or both of us down significantly? If so, would faster connection resolve this problem without having to pay for 2 seperate connections?

Yes. It is fine. The bottle neck is going to be your bandwidth. If either of you suddenly experience lag then you need to increase the bandwidth.

You should have no problems. Most online games are quite frugal in their bandwidth requirements.
