using cable would be better, It is faster and more sequre than wireless.
Often wireless connection looses signal while you are working. Also using wireless slows the internet down too!

Why don't you run a wire from the new connection to the existing router? A router can connect up to 253 computers? If you do not have an extra port, install a switch or hub*. FYI: A switch is faster.
You can pick up a used commercial switch or hub for about $20. I have a used 3Com Super Stacker 24 port switch. Used but works great**.
I don't like or recommend wireless. Unless you are very careful every Jr. hacker in a thousand feet will be pecking at your LAN till they get access. I have recommended wireless it is just rare, and in most cases unnecessary. If you can run Cat5 to you router you will be beter off. IMHO

so far the wired route is faster speed wise........ you could run the wireless router to communicate with a wireless adapter..... but not another wireless router....... you can usually buy any adapter (not the same brand as the router) but check with the manufactuers website to make sure its compatible with the router....... you dont need a pci slot if you get an adapter but you will need a free usb space..... i've done both set ups on pc's at home and i'm a tech support agent for internet and networking....

well you don't have to buy a pci wireless card, you can just a USB wireless adapter. just using a cable would be better, i think, because then you never have any problem with the signal dropping.
