Plug from port one to your computer, press reset button on router and then soft reset(power cycle), then browse to 192.168.1.1 in your internet browser use admin both as username and password and there, you go setup from there.
If your not tech savvy and you have internet, then you could plug a cable from internet modem into internet port on router, soft reset and then connect download the setup software off of the internet.

Yes. The CD’s mostly extraneous – it has the manual and some other odds and ends on it, but you don’t need any drivers or anything to use a specific router. My first step when receiving a hand-me-down router would be to reset it back to factory settings. What this does is make it act like it would as soon as it came out of the box. Typically this is done by pressing and holding a small button labeled ‘Reset’ on the back of the router, usually situated near the power jack. This button may be set into the housing of the router slighty to avoid accidental pushing – just use a pen/pencil or paperclip. Hold down the reset button while the router is turned on for about 45 seconds to a minute.
Once this is done, you shold be able to connect to the router either wirelessly or with an ethernet cable plugged straight into one of its ports. Open up your browser and punch ‘192.168.1.100′ (or whatever the default IP address of the router is. It may be ‘192.168.1.1′. Your friend should recall. Barring that, Cisco’s website should have a downloadable manual with the address in it) into your address bar. This will pull up the router’s configuration page. From here you can change the router’s settings to whatever works best for you, including adding or removing wireless security, MAC filters, and port forwards.
If you’re still confused, check Cisco’s website ( http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ ) for the router’s manual and further assistance.
