Question by 700_up: Why is Cisco router flash so expensive?
My teacher said that the flash memory in the Cisco routers is really expensive and that all it is is a 32 MB compact flash card. How come Cisco charges so much for them? What would happen if you just used a cheap compact flash card instead of one from Cisco?
Best answer:
Answer by JoelKatz They charge so much because they can. Cisco will sometimes claim that if you use a non-Cisco card, this invalidates your warranty or service contract, despite the fact that this is illegal in the United States (under Magnuson-Moss, but Cisco could argue their extended service isn’t really a warranty). Compatible flash cards are available for somewhat lower prices, but they’re still much more expensive than generic flash. That’s likely due to the smaller demand.
Question by ruby65652006: Why does a Belkin Router disconnect often?
I bought a Gateway Laptop in June, 2010. It worked fine with the Belkin Router, but started to disconnect periodically, especially if the laptop wasn’t used often. What is the problem?
Best answer:
Answer by Bassman1 Check the router signal by moving close to router it should show excellent then move away until it shows low this is the farthermost you can be from the router and still connect but it will loose the connection frequently. Relocate router to a more central area, install a router with a better signal range, install a router signal booster.

Question by SS: can I become Cisco certified through self learning?
Is it simply a matter of preparing for and passing exams or must one have some type of formal education / training?
Best answer:
Answer by ace87_mm What type of Cisco Certification? There are many certificates to be earned.
CCENT -entry level networking
CCNA Cisco Certified Networking Associate
CCNA VOICE same as above with Voice
CCNA Security…….
CCNA Wireless ….
CCDA Cisco Design
However, you should not go in blind otherwise it will be much more difficult.
I used the 640-802 simulator along side 6 months of classes just to pass the exam.
If you can self teach and absorb your readings, more power to you. It’s always nice to have a CCIE teach you though…

Question by : can I use Belkin router for comcast internet service?
i heard that I have to use same company router as internet service provider company.
My internet company is comcast. I have computer in home.
but I am using wireless laptop also. therefore, I need router. so I was planning to buy Belkin router. if people have to buy same company’s products. then why people buying router in bestbuy, not comcast or At&T which is internet service provider company.
Best answer:
Answer by Peeio You probably have to use their cable modem, but you should be able to use whatever wireless router you want. As long as it can plug into your modem via ethernet, and it has the right Standard (B, G, N, etc) to match your laptop’s wireless card.
