How secure is WPA Wireless Security?

I would like to setup a wireless network and was thinking of using WPA security. Is this the most secure option or is there something better?

Is there any way to get wireless security as strong as wired security?

  1. I have my router set for wpa/2, and nothing get past it, Check yours use this shieldsup.com ~

  2. Wireless will never be as strong as wired simply because a wired connection requires physical access to the router. However, WPA2 is probably the most secure you can get. Also, if you choose to not broadcast your SSID and only allow certain MAC addresses of known devices to connect to your WiFi, it can get very secure.

  3. Long Version:
WPA2 is currently the best. To get wireless security as strong as wired security you would have to hide your SSID, switch over to WPA2 and randomly pick a password (something along the lines of "uO239cNw305 2336DfVbgSwo3"). Then change that password several times a week. Even then, with a exceptionally strong computer, could hack your wireless connection using packet capturing. Of course I’m willing to bet only 0.1% of the population know about this and 0.01% know how to do it. Of course anything can google ‘how to hack a wpa2 wireless connection’. In order to prevent this you can use access restrictions and ONLY allow certain computers into your network. But the only thing that can keep track of computers is the MAC address. And the MAC address is easily changeable.

    Short Version:
There really isn’t any 100% guaranteed way to get wireless security as strong as wired security because a wired computer (to your network) requires a physical presence.
